I set myself a major challenge for this year.
I signed up for Gael Force West. More than a triathlon, the event organisers describe it as Europe's largest multi-sport event, which is now in its fourth year. The course covers 65km and entails:
* running (on a beach, I think) Croagh Patrick:
* then kayaking across Killary Harbour
* then running through a bog, followed by running on road (hooray!)
* then cycling on-road to Croagh Patrick
* then hiking/running up and down Croagh Patrick
* then cycling off-road and on back to Westport
* a small bit more running to the finish line
Currently I can run for two minutes before needing a rest.
Luckily it's not happening till the end of August. So at least I have time to get in shape.
Anyway, given that I work part-time for CARELOCAL (who provide friendship to older people living alone), AND this is truly a huge challenge for me, I plan to raise money for my charity through my participation. Every penny raised will be very hard earned!

It is totally secure.
Many, many, many thanks : )
