"Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way." ~ Florence Scovel Shinn

"The quest for certainty blocks the search for meaning. Uncertainty is the very condition to impel man to unfold his powers." ~ Erich Fromm

The weight of Objects - from The Daily Om
In life, we tend to have an easier time acquiring possessions than we do getting rid of them. Just as we harbor emotional baggage that is difficult to let go of, our lives can tend to be filled with material objects that we may feel compelled to hold on to. Most people are not conscious of how much they own and how many of their possessions are no longer adding value to their life. They fiercely hold on to material objects because this makes them feel secure or comfortable.
While it’s true that the ownership of “stuff” can make you feel good for awhile, it seldom satisfies the deep inner longings that nearly everyone has for fulfillment and satisfaction. It is only when we are ready to let go of our baggage and be vulnerable that it becomes possible to recognize the emotional hold that our possessions can have on us.
It’s not uncommon to hold on to material objects because we are attached to them or fear the empty spaces that will remain if we get rid of them. Giving away the souvenirs from a beloved voyage may feel like we are erasing the memory of that time in our life. We may also worry that our loved ones will feel hurt if we don’t keep the gifts they’ve given us. It’s easy to convince ourselves that unused possessions might come in handy someday or that parting with them will cause you emotional pain.
However, when your personal space is filled with objects, there is no room for anything new to enter and stay in your life. Your collection of belongings may “protect” you from the uncertainties of an unknown future while keeping you stuck in the past. Holding on to unnecessary possessions often goes hand in hand with holding on to pain, anger, and resentment, and letting go of your material possessions may help you release emotional baggage.
When you make a conscious decision to fill your personal space with only the objects that you need or bring you joy, your energy level will soar. Clearing your personal space can lead to mental clarity and an improved memory. As you learn to have a more practical and temporary relationship to objects, positive changes will happen, and you’ll have space to create the life that you desire.

Inner Peace. Isn’t that what we’d all love to experience consistently as we weave our paths through everything life gives us?
The good news is that it is far simpler to attain than many of our outer (material or physical) goals.
The bad news is that simple isn’t always easy! Attaining inner peace is not easy because it means replacing old habits with new, and that requires dedicated commitment. But the benefits are absolutely worth the effort!
Inner peace gives you the ability to live your life with a sense of happiness, satisfaction and fulfillment which is not disturbed or influenced by outside events.
How do you acquire it? By living your life your own way, not how others think you should. By not worrying about what others think of you – we all judge others (both positively and negatively) according to our own values, so if you live your life in a way that honours somebody else’s values rather than your own, you’ll always have a little gnawing discomfort going on deep inside.
To experience inner peace, you also need to be able to forgive and to let go of guilt. Forgive yourself and forgive others. Feeling guilty about past actions won’t change them and won’t make anybody feel any better (either you or the person whom you’ve hurt). Do what you can to put things right, resolve to do better in the future and move on.
Likewise, letting go of anger or grudges will bring about a surprising sense of peace. Think about it – how does holding onto these negative emotions help you? And do you think they hurt those against whom you hold them more than they hurt you? Not at all. They are your emotions and you are the only person whom they can harm.

January 1, 2009.
Not only a new day, but a whole new year.
Have you made your resolutions? Set your intentions? Declared yourself a Big Hairy Audacious Goal?
If not, so what! Read F**k It! by John Parkin and just get on with your life.
If yes though, you might want a plan to help you manifest that goal/intention/resolution. And I’d like to help.
Not with a template of how to set goals and break them down into baby steps with timelines attached. No siree!
What I’m going to suggest is that you think about the really big thing you want to achieve for yourself this year. Imagine fast forwarding to New Year’s Eve and you’re looking back on this year, and are filled with awe and gratitude for everything you’ve experienced.
Now take a good look at yourself. Who did you become over the course of 2009 that made the manifestation of your goal possible? Describe yourself, as clearly as you can, in writing.
Because this is the real key to your success. Not what you need to do, but who you need to be. As within, so without. Your life experiences reflect your inner state of being. So, if you want to experience something new, you have to align your inner self with the new circumstances you wish to attract.
Focus on being healthy, being creative, being productive, being whatever you need to be. When you decide to be that person, you will act like that person. You will be inspired as to what you need to do, and you will do it with greater ease.
“Be the change you want to see in the world.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Be, do, have. Not any other way!
Here's looking forward to what 2009 has in store. . .
(from Neale Donald Walsch)
On this day of your life, dear friend, I believe God wants you to know...that every day is a New Beginning.
A new cycle begins this day, yet a new cycle begins every day. Indeed, every moment. So if you recognize anything on this day, recognize what it symbolizes: The miracle of the endlessly continuing Cycle of Life.
What a grand day! What a time for celebration! We begin again today! We turn the page! And so, let go of all that you do not wish to carry with you any further. Any fear, any sadness, any anger, any resentment, any disappointment, any lament...let it all go.
And now, using the specialness of this day as a springboard, let's get on with Life!
